We were going to bake cookies but then this happened:
Mommy: :: washing hands in preparation for baking ::Zack: SCREEEEEEECH!
Mommy: Becky! What happened? Did you take a toy away from him?
Becky: No, I ate him!
Mommy: You ate him? You mean you bit him?
Becky: Yeah.
Mommy: Why would you do that?!?!? You know better than that!
Becky: He had an attitude!
Mommy: :: pause :: Seriously?
So I can't in good conscience let her bake cookies today, but we're going to save them and do them this weekend or next week one day. "He had an attitude." What a pisser.
For those of you wondering, sugar cookies from a mix because a) I have never found a sugar cookie recipe I like and the Betty Crocker mix-in-a-bag comes out pretty well and b) I think she'll be way more into decorating them than mixing up the ingredients, so we're going to concentrate on that part. If this goes well, we might make some other kinds from scratch for Christmas.

"He had an attitude?" That is awesome... I mean terrible and I would never, ever laugh at that in a million years. :-)
Attitude schmattitude, where are my damn cookies?
I love the things that come out of our kids' mouths. Well, the words. Not the other things.
And if you want a fun project that's less sugary, last year we made ornaments -- making a very salty dough, cutting out shapes, baking, painting, etc. It went *really* well and made for great presents from AJ to family/day care teachers.
And don't get me wrong. I'm all in favor of sugary cookies (AJ ate *four* of them, all slathered in frosting and sprinkles, before lunch yesterday at a decorating party), but then I'm stuck with however many staring at me when I'm pretending like I'm going to be able to say no. HA.
Hey! I've got a fairly excellent sugar cookie recipe if you'd like to try it. Needs about 4 hours in the fridge, but totally worth it. =0) I'll email it to you if you want it!
