Short and sweet
But lots of pics of the kids. (And, as it turns out, not so short.)I had a Very Forgetful Friday, wherein I forgot that the maids were coming to clean, that I had opera tickets for that night, and that Kit would be playing rugby Saturday morning, necessitating my being fully responsible for childcare and transportation and eliminating my ability to do errands. Sigh. But Saturday was awesome -- we went up to Boston (Woburn, actually) and hung out with the Otherworld crew, which is always a great time. This year Kit took responsibility for the boy and let me get rippingly drunk and (mostly) ignore my mommyhood. Not something I want to do often, but I really needed it this time. Thanks, hon. You're the best.
The kids are good -- Zack is moving into 6m size clothes and slept through the night last night(!!!)...our baby is all grows up. He smiles and giggles like a maniac pretty constantly, and is pretty patient with us. Becky Jayne is the sweetest big sister ever -- even when she's jealous of Daddy holding Zack, it seems to be Daddy she's mad at, not Zack. When I hold him, she helps with the bottle, brings him toys and blankets, hugs him and me, and so on. She will also still alert me to his crying, and make a guess at what he needs: "Mama! Zack crying! Burp!"
She is definitely two, though (okay, not quite, but mentally she totally is). We just entered the "by myself" stage, which is possibly Mommy's least favorite so far. I don't mind her doing stuff independently -- I'm very proud of her when she puts her hat and coat on all by herself, and she's telling us when she has to go potty (sometimes -- it's a work in progress)...but she's jsut not quite ready to handle putting her socks on by herself. This is not normally a problem as I'm perfectly willing to let her try for however long it takes for her to decide she wants help, but on Tuesdays we have to get up and get out the door. This means we're taking a trip to Tantrum City every Tuesday. Ugh. But she's still cute as all get out. Here are some pics of the two of them (not together) -- weight loss update, such as it is, below.

Weight loss is eh -- week before last was 171.5 and then last week was 173. I'm going to start a food diary next week, I think -- that usually helps me see where my issues are. The exercising has actually been pretty good. Now that the weather's a little better I've been walking the kids up to school, and then if I have extra time after, i exercise a little on the Gazelle before showering. I think I might change that extra from cardio to toning -- we'll see how it works out. This week is sucking -- Monday I had to be in for an early meeting, today is my regular early day, and tomorrow I have to go to Trader Joe's because I just didn't get a chance to go last week and there are things, blue foo-bah not least among them, that we need (see above, re: VFF).
