Ups and downs

I'm still trying to find time to fit everything not family and work related in, including this blog. I feel like I had just gotten a good schedule down when I got pregnant again (on purpose -- we were actually trying, so I'm not implying I didn't know it was coming) and then work got hectic because of the going on leave and things just sort of started slipping. I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting a handle on things again, so hopefully that will mean more blog posts (and more with pictures, because I know you're really just here for the kids).

So, you will remember that last time I posted, I had gone up a couple of pounds on the scale (175.5). That was a Tuesday. The following Thursday I weighed myself and was a full 2.5lbs lighter (173). Then last Tuesday I weighed myself again (because I'm trying to stick to the same day and really I just don't think it's fair to my self esteem to do it on Monday) and I was back up to 173.5. So I weighed myself again on Thursday and I was down ot 171.5. Guess what? Official weight day is now Thursday.

In other ups and downs, Becky and I were supposed to have our first MommyBeckyDay two Fridays ago. She was at Grandma's and I was going to pick her up after I dropped Zack off and went to have my tire changed. (Lest you all think I'm some sort of un-feminist wuss, I'm perfectly capable of changing a flat tire. I've even done it in a mini skirt and heels. This was changing a new tire onto the old rim. Not the same thing.) I showed up at the mechanic aound 9:45 and he told me it'd be about 30 minutes because he was finishing something up real quick and then I was next in line. No problem, I says, I've got my "car knitting" (the plain sock I keep in the car Just In Case). Then he tells me, after he's got the tire off, that unless Kit has parts for me, I'm not driving out of there. Turns out some piece that holds the wheel on (control arm?) is completly rusted through.

Kit has the part but cannot get it removed from the car it's attached to, so he has to order it new from Chrysler. They don't get it to him until after lunch and then Stevie still has to take mine off and change everything over. I finally walked out of there with half a sock around 3. So much for MommyBeckyDay, and also now I'm hating Fridays. The previous Friday was no cakewalk either, as Zack had his first shots and he is not quite the trooper Becky is. Based on how the previous Fridays had been treating me, it was with no little trepidation that I prepared for this past Friday, when we would finally have our inaugural MommyBeckyDay.

I can think of only one word to describe how Becky behaved, and that is amazing. Seriously. Allowing for her being 2ish, she was absolutely a joy. There were tantrums, but they were few and far between, minor in intensity and duration, and completely caused by her not quite understanding something (if you have or have recently had a two-year old, you know what I mean -- she wasn't just melting down for no reason). She listened, and helped, and didn't freak out when we had to go back to school to drop of formula for Zack because Mommy forgot to pack it. ("Mommy boo-boo. Mommy fix. Mommy boo-boo. Mommy fix.' All the home, all the way back, and then after we lef tthe formula, nothing. Love her.) She continues to do the most adorable things, which I will tell you more about tomorrow as this post has gotten completely out of control. Stories will include Stinky Egg Hunt, Toys for Zack, Funny Things Toddlers Say, and more.

Okay, this got completely out of date once I started keeping track on Ravelry. I'm thinking about how best to do this with the least amount of effort. You'll know when I know.
