Who knew?
As much as I talk about miles of stocking stitch making me want to stick a DPN in my eye, apparently it's also great stress relief. I decided what I need to take my mind off Christmas knitting was a nice sweater for Miss Becky Jayne. So we flipped through the book of baby knits I just checked out of the library (Special Knits for Babies, by Debbie Bliss), and when I got to the picture of the Hooded Kaftan, she went crazy -- kept touching it, got upset when I turned the page or closed the book, tried to hug it. Guess I'm making that for her. So, since I hate Debbie Bliss yarns (sorry, but I do. YMMV.) and since I really, seriously, I cannot even tell you how much, SO do not need to be buying more yarn, I went into my baby yarn bag and pulled out three skeins of Lilac Haze (lavender) Cotton Fleece. I'll do the accents in dark and light purple where there's red and orange on the the one in the book, and dark and light green where there's blue in the book. The white can stay white.I'm knitting the biggest size, because I can be sure she'll get the most wear out of it that way (and/or I'll have time to finish it before she grows out of it). I cast on the back last night and have about 5 inches knit already. Love it. I feel so much more relaxed about Christmas knitting now (which I've already admitted is not getting done). It feels so good to just sit and knit on something with no deadline, no stitch pattern, no needle manipulation. Then again, I'm only 5 inches into it. Ask me how I feel when I'm finishing up the front. And don't be surprised if there's a needle sticking out of my eye.
